Tropical Storm Fay

We were supposed to have a hurricane yesterday and it never came! At the very least we were going to have a strong tropical storm and that never even showed up.

Unfortunately, it took Dean and I two days to get our house ready for this impending storm which for 3 days prior was pointed directly at our neighborhood. We spent the entire day Sunday putting up shutters and Monday night we picked up the loose items in the yard... flower pots, grills, hoses, pool supplies, decorations on our patio walls.

After all this preparation I was hoping we would at least get a thunderstorm. But no, not even a small rain shower. That is hard to believe, but I'm still waiting for the gusty winds and torrential downfall that they kept talking about.

The worst part for me was the anticipation for a day off of work yesterday (which 90% of Southwest Florida got). I did not get the day off. :(

I guess that's the price we pay to live in Florida. We absolutely love it here and wouldn't trade it for the world, but since 2004 every storm out there is a potential life threatening event according to the local media. I think they go to far with it myself. But, I guess it is better to be safe than sorry.
